Terms of service
The short version: shops sell, customers buy, FairPlate provides the software in between for 10% of the food and drink on each order, falling as the shop grows. Here is the slightly longer version. Last updated 18 October 2026.
For shops
- FairPlate charges 10% of the food and drink on each order, after any discount you give, and that rate falls as your shop grows. The ladder is marginal, like income tax, and resets on the first of each month: the first £1,500 of the month is charged at 10%, £1,500 to £6,000 at 7%, £6,000 to £15,000 at 5.5%, and anything over £15,000 at 4.5%. Each rate applies only to the part of the month above that point.
- Each order carries a minimum fee of 35p, which is never more than 10% of the basket, so we never charge you more than 10% of the food and drink on any order. We do not charge anything on delivery fees or tips.
- Card processing by Stripe is included. We pay Stripe out of our share, so nothing is added on top of the rate above.
- There is no sign-up fee, no monthly minimum, no contract, no notice period and no cancellation fee. There is no trial period or trial pricing: the live demo is free to use and needs no sign-up, and the rate above applies from your first real order.
- You are the seller of record. Food safety, allergen accuracy, pricing and fulfilment are your responsibility; the platform gives you the tools to declare allergens and manage orders.
- Your menu, order history and customer list are yours. You can export your customer list at any time, and if you leave, you take it with you.
- Deliveries are made by your own riders. FairPlate provides tracking tools but is not a courier and does not employ delivery staff.
For customers
- Your contract for each order is with the shop you order from. Refunds and cancellations are handled by the shop through the platform, and paid orders that a shop rejects are refunded in full.
- Loyalty points, stamps and rewards are issued by the shop and have no cash value outside it.
The platform
- We aim for the service to be available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. Orders confirmed by a shop remain valid regardless of platform availability.
- Accounts used fraudulently or abusively may be suspended.
- These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
